EP. 56 “Buddhas by Nature”
When we try and trace the source of what is arising during our meditation practice, what are we observing? Lama Surya Das explores this question around the nature of objectivity and shares practices for shifting our perspective.

LAMA SURYA’S AWAKENING NOW PODCAST
Ep. 58 – Mastering Fear
Lama Surya Das reacts to the growing trend of gun violence that we have seen in our society. He looks at how the inner work that we are doing in our spiritual practice directly addresses the root of this issue – fear.
“I think what we are doing here is very important in these times because gun control alone is not enough – we need to develop is self-control. Outer control is not enough, however we might try and legislate it, which is why inner-control, self-mastery, mindfulness, emotional intelligence and compassion is so important.”

Ep. 59 – Perfection As It Is
Lama Surya Das is reunited with his old friend, Kelly Rego, for a conversation around seeing the perfection in all things, integrating our spiritual practice into daily life and understanding what lies beyond mindfulness.
It’s the innate great perfection, beyond duality such as good or bad – that’s personal, this is transpersonal. It’s transcendent and yet it’s imminent in everything, including the shadows. It has to be recognized that even shadows are nothing but light phenomena.”

LAMA SURYA’S AWAKENING NOW PODCAST Ep. 60 –
The Action of Non-Action
Whether it is a mantra, focusing on the breath or mindfulness practice, we are usually directly engaged in spiritual practice, in doing. Lama Surya Das looks at the View, a form of practice that instead emphasizes not doing, known as Wu wei in the Daoist philosophy.
The Middle Way includes action and inaction (non-action). We emphasize the View in this tradition more than the action, such as meditation.” – Lama Surya Das
